Pacific Northwest Trip – Bend, OR

We rolled out of Boise early on a Tuesday morning with our next stop being Bend, Oregon for two days.  We’ve heard so many great things about Bend so were excited to explore the city and cycle around the area.

When we first arrived we scouted out the Juniper Swim and Fitness Center to get refreshed from driving and swim a broken mile.

We camped at Tumalo State Park which is only 4 miles from town.  The park had just reopened and had great upgraded wash house facilities. We had a nice camp site and access to a river trail to take a walk after dinner.  My husband borrowed his parent’s tonka toasters so I got to experience my first tonka or as my Canadian friend calls them “pie irons“.

We walked around downtown and checked out the Deschutes River.  We found a lot of useful information at the downtown visitor’s center to help plan our time in Bend.  We happened upon Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint for great views of the area.

The next day we rode the Twin Bridges scenic bikeway route with amazing views of Mount Hood and the Three Sisters.  We refueled on delicious smoothies and raw treats after our bike ride at veg eateries.

Great start to our road trip and sneak peak of what Oregon has to offer.
